After researching fashion photographers I felt the most inspired by Baron Adophe de Meyer. He was the first fashion photographer for Vogue and was known for his experimental technique's with a soft focus lens and back lighting.
This overall technique is something that appealed to me and has influence the way in which I chose to experiment with back-lighting. The idea I had was to use outside locations using the sun as back-lighting creating a contre jour technique.
Dolores - Follies + frolics, 1918
Inspired by the soft focus of photograph above I used a 50mm lens with the sun behind the model and the focus on the flower.
I brighten the skin tones in lightroom and added a lens flare in photoshop. I think this works really well in giving a overall soft look.
I edited this one in light room I wanted to desaturated the colour but also keep a bit of the blue tones. I think this gives the image a old style look and a narrative.
I used a 50mm lens to give a shallow depth of field. My intention was to experiment with different depth of field and to create a Bokeh effect, contre jour and an overall soft feel to the image. I have also experimented with light room and photoshop and have added a lens fare to this photograph.
